Managing your time effectively is a challenge; but it’s a challenge you simply cannot afford to time management strateguesignore. Every minute you waste is a minute you’ll never get back to use for something else more “productive”.

Add up these wasted minutes over a week, month, or (heaven forbid) a year, and you’ll soon be reeling in horror at the amount of time you could have been using for better ends.

To save you from all that wasted time, take a look at these three highly effective time management strategies that will help you reclaim your inner focus and improve your productivity.

1 – Create A Daily To-Do List

No good general would send his troops into battle without a well-thought-out strategy. Likewise, you should never go into your day without having a to-do list, which covers everything you need to complete.

Before you go to bed each night, you should create a to-do list for the following day.

This needs to outline all the tasks you have to complete in order to ensure that you can consider you day to have been “successful”.

You can use a flashy to-do list app, or a good old fashioned pen and paper. But whatever option you choose, you simply cannot afford not to have a daily to-do list if you want to manage your time effectively.

2 – Identify Your Biggest Time Wasters And Block Them

The Internet and other digital technologies (such as mobile phones, TV, and video games) have done more than just about anything else in living memory to change the way we humans live and work. In fact, not since the invention of the steam engine in the Industrial Revolution has technology changed so significantly the nature of our lives.

Digital technologies can make communication easier, and break down barriers in a truly revolutionary manner. However, these same digital technologies – especially the Internet with its easy access to all manner of distracting material – can cause you to waste a huge amount of time.

Without even realizing it you could be spending hours each day procrastinating on social media websites, message boards, or watching silly cat videos. Add on top of

3 – Micro-Work

One of my favorite strategies for time management success is “micro working”.

The concept is really simple: Add up the time you lose each day not really doing much (e.g. sitting on the bus on the way to work or waiting for your dinner to cook) and use that time in a more effective manner.

For example, if you normally spend an hour each day sitting around on public transport, then why not use that time to catch up on your emails.  That way when you get to work you don’t need to do any!

Micro-working takes quite a bit of getting used to; but once you become accustomed to finding short periods of otherwise wasted time in which you can be productive, you’ll add meaningful productive hours each and every week.

Conclusion

Deploy these three time management strategies and enjoy the feeling of getting more out of each day.

You’ll also have sharper mental focus, which will lead to better outcomes in all aspects of your life. Don’t settle for wasted time – take action now to eliminate it, and reclaim those precious minutes to put towards other more productive tasks.
