Today I have collated a series of life inspiring positive quotes that I use to enable me to continue in the face of adversity, that arises from day to day.

Positive quotes to motivate you to keep going

Getting back up again after a setback is what really determines how successful we will be in life. Lets face it we all have our own battles to fight and a lot of the time it is the battle that we must fight within ourselves to keep going when we have a setback.

Your life is like a plane flight, you need to have a destination to head towards {a goal}, and you need to apply some power to get the aircraft going {take some action}. On this flight you are either the pilot or a passenger, the choice is yours.

Remember a plane is not always exactly on course as winds change etc, therefore to arrive at your destination safely the pilot {you} need to make corrections to keep heading towards your goal.

Why is that we are sometimes our own worst enemies? Some of the things that you hear people say about themselves is quite concerning e.g. I’m stupid, I’m such a fool, I can never…., yet people are happy to express these thoughts about themselves. Why do we take such a negative view on what we are capable of? Today’s quotes are little snippets that can help you keep going when things don’t go quite as planned.

1. “Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.” – Dennis P. Kimbro

Too many people allow a simple error that they make to ruin the rest of their day (or week) or in extreme cases they can allow an error to continue to cloud their life indefinitely. Yes sometimes things don’t always go as we had planned, sometimes we even make mistakes or stuff it up. The important thing is to recognize it for what it was an error or mistake, then we should look at why we did that or allowed it to occur and then what we can do next time so we don’t make the same mistake again.

To err is human but to continue in error is the sign of a fool. Try not to repeat the same mistake.

2. “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say, I used everything you gave me.” – Erma Bombeck

We are all incredible beings and it would be a tragedy if we didn’t make the most of the talents or opportunities that we are given. People will sometimes let an opportunity to slip by because they are more worried about what other people will think than if this is an opportunity for them to learn and succeed.

3. “Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” – Will Rogers

You have to keep moving. Everything in life is either growing or decaying, we must keep moving and keep growing. If we get to somewhere where we are comfortable we can stop trying and just stay in our comfort zone. If we do this for too long you begin to find yourself in a rut and get ourselves out of this rut it is necessary to take some decisive action and move outside our comfort zone. That is how human beings grow.

Imagine you were a child that was learning to walk how many attempts would you try before you just sat down and didn’t try anymore. A child keeps going until they get it, yet as adults we very easily resign ourselves to failure by not trying to get back up after a simple setback. Why is that? Why do we stop trying? Just keep giving it one more go, and continue to refine how you approach it, learn from the mistakes or errors.

4. “Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more you sweat, the luckier you get.” – Ray Kroc

How much we achieve in life is determined by our own actions. Very few people just happen to be in the right place at the right time. Whilst it may seem that way to the external observer they have been planning or working on that outcome over an extended period of time. We need to focus on our goal and keep taking some action to keep moving towards that goal particularly after a setback.

5. “Don’t worry about failures, worry about the chances you miss when you don’t even try.” – Jack Canfield

To participate in the game called life you have to have a swing at the ball. Everything that has been achieved throughout history has its beginning in two simple things. Firstly there was the thought or an idea and then there was some action taken to achieve the result. Thomas Edison in creating the incandescent light bulb is said to have experienced failure 10,000 times before succeeding. Imagine if he had given up after the 10th attempt, the 50th, the 9,000th. We never know how close we are to succeeding until with have actually achieved what it is that we were after. You have to keep going and keep getting up when life knocks you down.

6. “Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.” – Carl Bard

Learn from our mistakes. Every time we try something that doesn’t work, we haven’t failed, we have learned something. It may be what doesn’t work so that we don’t try it again, but we have learned something. If you can view the setbacks you face in life as learning experiences, you will see them in an entirely new light.

7. “Life has two rules:

Rule #1 Never quit

Rule #2 Always remember rule # 1.” – Unknown

Keep going, keep trying and never give up.
