Next to total laziness, procrastination can be one of the most frustrating forces in the world. Whether you’re a college student who is struggling to get that important essay turned in on time, an athlete who needs to put in more training, or an office worker who is falling behind in terms of work load, procrastination can be a seriously negative force in your life.
The good news is that there are a whole load of techniques you can use that will actually stop procrastination dead in its tracks, help you to overcome laziness, and then actually reverse it for good.
In this article you are going to learn how to stop procrastinating in ten easy steps.
Follow the steps below to learn how to stop procrastinating, and pay particular attention to the brief description that follows each:
- Set goals
One of the most effective procrastination-busting methods you can use is to set goals towards which you can work. Identify one short term, one medium term, and one long term goal that you will start working towards immediately.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, you can’t run before you can walk, etc etc you know the story…
When it comes to setting goals and taking action to beat procrastination it is vitally important that you reward yourself by trying to complete small tasks first. Break everything you do down into manageable chunks and then tackle them from there.

- Take action daily
Even if you only do something productive for 30 minutes today that is still better than doing nothing. Make sure you take action daily, as opposed to procrastinating about doing it later.

- Surround yourself with successful and driven people.
If the people you associate with most regularly are a bit like The Dude (ie not doing much at all) then you will probably be lazy and unmotivated yourself.
It’s no secret that like attracts like, so if you spend more time around people who are driven, achieving well, and always giving it 100%, then you will become more like them too.
- Visualize success.
One of my favorite ways to stop procrastinating is through the amazing power of visualization. Concentrate and imagine how amazing you will feel when you actually get things done and achieve your goals.

- Stop worrying and start doing.
